I hope that when you leave this class you will be in a better position to understand, interpret, and appreciate the world you live in.

Course Content: Aspects of cell form and function; genetics; ecology and evolution; health-related issues; and biotechnology

Method of Presentation: Lectures will be given as powerpoint presentations; the students will be given a CD with the lecture material for their information and for use as a study guide. The text is optional, but readings are provided and may be useful to understanding the material covered.

Method of Evaluation: Students will be evaluated on quizzes, article critiques, and exams. Quizzes and exams will cover both lecture and lab material. Class participation in discussions (which means attendance is important) will also be considered in the final grade.
