Course Content: This course focuses on issues in youth sport and aims to develop insight while addressing historical, structural, readiness for competition, social processes, physiological, and psychological issues in sport for children and youth. A secondary purpose of the class is to help you begin to plan for a sport that you may someday coach. Assignments are intended to help you explore your philosophies with regards to coaching, and help you begin to develop a composite of drills for a sport you may someday coach. The course will conclude with the running of a practice session with your peers. Basically, I have tried to design this course to be something that will give you an oversight of youth sports and a touch of realistic activities that you will use while coaching.
