Course Objectives: To introduce the basic principles of chemistry and its applications in the real world without undue emphasis upon mathematics.

Course Content: The metric system, significant figures', ionic and covalent bonding, stoichiometry, states of matter, equilibrium, solutions, acids and bases.

Method of Presentation: Lectures - 3 or 4 weekly Quizes - 6 per quarter Exams - 3 per quarter plus comprehensive final Labs with Reports - 6 to 7 per quarter Nomenclature quiz

Method of Evaluation: Grade is based upon total points acquired from above assignments of 1000 possible. Approximate breakdown is 85 A, 75 B, 65 C, 55 D, Less than 55 E.
