Freshman
- Take Psych 100, a 300‐level topic course, and GEC’s
- Get involved in the Psychology Student Association (Dr. Ruthsatz is the advisor)
- Start keeping track of all activities and accomplishments on a resume or vita
- Work hard and make good grades
Sophomore
- Take Psych 220, 300, additional 300‐level topic courses, and GEC’s
- Continue Psychology Student Association involvement
- 2nd 1⁄2 of the year start working as a Research Assistant in a faculty lab (Positions are limited)
- Work hard and make good grades
Junior
- Take Psych 313, additional 300‐level courses, start taking 500‐level courses, and finish GEC’s
- Continue working as a Research Assistant
- Present research (poster) at local, regional, or national forum
- Discuss early on if you are interested in completing a Thesis (honors or regular) which you will start at the end of this academic year
- Consider completing an internship (Psych 489, based on eligibility)
- Leadership role in Psychology Student Association
- Start researching Psychology graduate programs & plan to take the GRE over the summer
- Work hard and make good grades
Senior
- Complete all required courses and take electives
- Complete thesis project & present own research poster at local, regional, or national forums
- Apply to graduate programs (many have Fall or early Winter deadlines) and/or post‐graduate employment
- Leadership role in Psychology Student Association
- Work hard and make good grades
- Graduate in Spring
