More instinctive than intellectual, more about the paint than the why,

more about the feeling than the thought,

two very competent artists approach figure painting from a primal place deep inside and provoke dialogue about the complexity of paint as skin.

The public is invited to the catered opening:

Gallery Hours:

Monday - Friday, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Help Ohio State Retain the Trophy and

Beat Michigan

in the 2009 Buckeye-Wolverine Challenge for Life!

Lifeline of Ohio and The Ohio State University Chapter of Students for Organ Donation has accepted a challenge from the “state up north!”   Which University can register the most new organ and tissue donors before November 19th?

Taking just a few minutes to register your wish to be a donor at the time of your death can potentially save eight lives through organ donation and heal more than 50 lives through tissue and eye donation.  More than 103,000 people in the U.S. are waiting for a life-saving transplant and 18 of those will die today while waiting.  Nearly 3,000 of those waiting for a life-saving organ transplant are from Ohio.  By registering your decision to be an organ and tissue donor, you are giving hope to those awaiting a life-saving organ transplant or a healing tissue transplant.

To participate in the Challenge For Life, simply log on to www.lifelineofohio.org  and click on the “Register Now” option, found at the top of each page on the Lifeline of Ohio website.  From there, you will be connected to a secure website maintained by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.  If you live outside of Ohio, visit the Lifeline of Ohio website to learn how you can register to be an organ and tissue donor in your state.

Register as an organ and tissue donor and become a Buckeye For Life!  If you have questions about the Challenge or organ and tissue donation, please e-mail Lauren Fitting at lfitting@lifelineofohio.org.  If you are interested in helping Students For Organ Donation to promote organ and tissue donation on campus please contact them at ohiostatesod@osu.edu.  Let’s start a new Ohio State tradition that saves lives!  Register as a donor and become a Buckeye For Life!

SELF-CARE

What to eat and drink if you get sick

  • Chicken noodle soup
  • Saltine crackers
  • Applesauce
  • Gelatin cups
  • PowerAde
  • Water
  • Apple juice
  • Sprite
  • Tea packets
  • Sugar packets

ABOUT VACCINES:

SEASONAL FLU VACCINE:  WHY IT'S IMPORTANT

Seasonal flu vaccine is the vaccine offered every year in the fall.  It covers you against three commons types of influenza.  These types are chosen each year as those most likely to infect our community during the flu season (December to March). This vaccine does not give protection against H1N1 flu.  Since H1N1 is a "novel" or new virus, it could not be included in the Seasonal vaccine.

So, why get the seasonal vaccine?

With H1N1 influenza going around, it is important to be immune to the more common types of influenza for two reasons.

  1. Not knowing how much H1N1 flu may be here in the winter months, it will help all of us if we can keep seasonal flu illness low.
  2. Influenza virus is a very good at changing into new forms.  It is possible that H1N1 could combine with one of the seasonal types and become more dangerous.  That combination could occur if a person is wick with H1N1 and a seasonal type at the same time.

H1N1 VACCINE:

A vaccine against the H1N1 influenza strain is expected to come in the late fall, hopefully in October or November.  See the following link for schedule for the flu vaccines.
